Our founder, Stephen, was a former track and field sprinter, and when he was suffering from a foot injury, a friend introduced him to a book called "Born to Run." This led him to discover barefoot running, and he began pursuing a more natural style of running.
Stephen devoted himself to making the simple sandals he saw in the book, and with the help of shoemaking experts, including former designers from Nike and Reebok, he finally launched XERO SHOES in 2009.
